WINE DESCRIPTION
Jelu Estate Syrah comes from the San Juan region, with grapes sourced from the Zonda Valley and Pedernal valley sub-regions. Vineyards located at high elevation on very stony soils are farmed organically and biodynamically. The grapes are harvested by hand, before being sorted and crushed at the winery. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, whilst the maturation occurs in French oak barrels for a period of around 9 to 12 months, before being returned to tank to fully harmonise prior to bottling.

Jelu Estate Syrah is a pure, high elevation expression of Argentinian Syrah.It coats the glass with a medium purple color. On the nose, this Syrah exhibits enticing notes of blackberry, plum, and black pepper. These aromas are complemented by hints of violet and a subtle touch of smokiness. The palate has a medium body, with refreshing acidity that helps to offset the ripe black fruit flavors. The tannins are smooth and velvety, providing a pleasantly drying, medium length finish.

San Juan has a long history of winemaking, dating back to the 15th century when the first vines were planted by Spanish settlers.
