Ixsir Grande Réserve Red bold, dry, red wine with a full body and ripe grippy tannins allied to baked black fruit and dark chocolate notes. Ixsir, meaning elixir in Arabic, is made from Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot grapes grown in a number of sites across Lebanon. Although the local climate is hot, all of the vineyards are located above 5,500 feet above sea level, bringing freshness to the wine from this cooling influence. The winemaking involves 12 months maturation in French oak, roughly half of which is new, resulting in marked, toasted oak chocolate notes. This wine is a good choice for drinekrs who enjoy premium Southern Rhone appellations who are looking for a change of pace.
NOTES FROM VINOVOSS SOMMELIER
Ixsir Grande Réserve Red shows an inky ruby colour in the glass. On the nose, expect to find a bold intensity of baked black fruit aromas, blackberry and plum. The palate is dry and full bodied with ample concentration of fruit upon the mid-palate. The tannins are grippy, but ripe and the refreshing acidity maintains a sense of balance, leading to a long finish with toasted oak chocolate nuances. Try with a daube of beef, Provencale style and drink within 10 years.
