Ironstone Cabernet Franc, hailing from the Lodi appellation, showcases the Kautz Family's commitment to quality winemaking. Predominantly grown in Lodi's Alta Mesa and Sloughhouse sub-AVAs, these vineyards feature diverse elevations and soils, including red clay loam in Alta Mesa and a more complex topography with bedrock in Sloughhouse. Aged for six months in new French oak barrels, this blend of 85% Cabernet Franc, 10% Petite Verdot, and 5% Teroldego is a testament to the family's dedication. The resulting wine is a finely balanced and medium-bodied Cabernet Franc, with expressive aromas of red berries, subtle spice, and fresh herbs. Its flavor profile unfolds with notes of red cherry, raspberry, and nuanced vanilla-oak undertones, creating a distinctive and delightful experience for wine enthusiasts.
NOTES FROM VINOVOSS SOMMELIER
This Ironstone Cabernet Franc has a deep, ruby-red hue in the glass. On the nose, aromas of blackberry, blueberry, and cherry combine with subtle hints of cedar, tobacco, and spice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and plush, with flavors of dark fruits and a touch of earthiness. The tannins are well-integrated, and the finish is long and lingering. Enjoy this robust and complex red with hearty dishes, such as braised beef or grilled lamb.
