Wine Description:
Il Tauro Salice Salentino Riserva is made from the Malvasia Nera and Negroamaro grape varieties. After harvesting, the grapes are quickly taken to the press house. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Once fermentation is complete, aging takes place in oak barrels, resulting in a complex and full-bodied wine with a deep ruby color and intense aromas of dark fruit, spices, and vanilla. The wine is known for its smooth tannins and long finish, making it a perfect pairing for hearty meat dishes and aged cheeses.

Wine Expert Note:

The Il Tauro Salice Salentino Riserva offers a bright, ruby red color in the swirled glass. The first nose of the Salice Salentino Riserva is of blueberries, blackcurrants and mulberries. It is medium bodied and packed with ripe black fruit flavours with nuts, raisins and a big whack of sweet oak spice. The finish is elegant, with a lingering hint of sweet vanilla.

Vecchia Torre Salice Salentino is a majority blend of Negroamaro with a touch of Malvasia Nera produced by Cantina Vecchia Torre. The vineyards for this wine are located in the Salice Salentino region of Puglia, in the heel of Italy. This warm Mediterranean climate provides the ideal conditions for ripening these heat-seeking black grapes. On arrival at the winery, the grapes are passed through a de-stemmer and undergo an alcoholic fermentation on skins, before the wine is aged for around 6 months in oak barrels prior to its release.
