Hermann J. Wiemer
Chardonnay is a cornerstone varietal at Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard, first planted by Hermann in 1978, with estate Chardonnay produced annually since 1981. The original vines in the HJW Vineyard provide a mineral and acid backbone. This Chardonnay is fermented and aged in a blend of stainless steel and large format Hungarian oak, resulting in a mineral-driven wine with a broad mid-palate and clean finish. The wine is composed of 100% Chardonnay, harvested from September 24 to October 2. Vinification includes hand-picking, hand-sorting, whole cluster pressing, and a six-month indigenous yeast fermentation.
