Gut Hermannsberg 7 Terroirs is a remarkable wine. It is a blend of 7 Grosse Lagen, the German equivalent of a Grand Cru Vineyard site. 100% Riesling grapes from each of the 7 sites are fermneted separately and then blended to for the complex and unique expression of the Nahe terroir. The resulting wine is known for its elegant style, with a perfect balance between juicy apple fruit flavors and acidity. Gut Hermannsberg 7 Terroirs is unusual wine in that it is a blend of 7 different Grosse Lage vinyards, which are more commonly found as singular expressions.As such, it provides a entry point into understanding the quality potential of Riesling in the best sites of the Nahe. On the nose, you can expect aromas of ripe citrus fruits,tree fruits, white flowers, and a hint of minerality. The palate is light bodied but rich in terms of fruit density, and perfectly balanced by the vibrant acidity. The finish is long with intense slatey mineral complexity. Try this with seared scallops with lardons and apple puree. Drink now or age for up to 15 years to allow this wine time to develop petrol-like complexity.
