Guidi Chianti Classico is a gastronomic, savory red wine that hails from the Chianti Classico appellation in Tuscany, Italy. The wine is predominantly composed of the native Sangiovese, known for giving notes of sour cherry and tomato leaf. A touch of Merlot and Malvasia Nera are often added to contribute roundness and notes of plum and herbs. The grapes are harvested from higher elevation sites that maintains acidity during the warm growing season. Following on from the alcoholic fermentation, the wine is matured for a period of around 12 months in large oak barrels and cement tanks, before spending a further 3 months in the bottle prior to release.
