WINE DESCRIPTION
Grifalco Damaschito is a powerful, tannic Aglianico based wine planted on the volcanic slopes of Mount Vulture in the South of Italy. The vineyards are located at high elevation which helps to offset the warm temperatures during the peak of the growing season. After the grapes are crushed, they undergo a lengthy maceration to create a deep, highly tannic wine. The wines are subsequently aged in large oak barrels for around 24 months, followed by a further 12 months in bottle prior to its release.
NOTES FROM VINOVOSS SOMMELIER
Grifalco Damaschito has an intense ruby-purple hue with heavy staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine bursts from the glass with an intense array of ripe dark fruits, such as blackberries and plums, accompanied by hints of spice and earthiness. These aromas are further enhanced by subtle notes of tobacco and leather, adding complexity to the overall profile. The palate is rich and full-bodied, with velvety tannins that provide a smooth and elegant mouthfeel. The flavors of black fruits continue to dominate, with additional layers of dark chocolate and espresso adding depth and intensity. The wine's well-balanced acidity ensures a refreshing and lingering finish.
