Gothic Maelstrom Pinot Noir is a red wine made from the Pinot Noit Grape. The grapes used to make this wine are exclusively grown in a single vineyard, which was planted in 1983 in the Dundee Hills AVA with grape material that was smuggled into the USA from Burgundy in a suitcase. The yields are low, resulting in concentrated fruit. The winemkaing focus is upon gentle extraction of tannins and framing the fruit with sweet oak spice from more than a year in 25% new French oak. The end result is a aromatic style with precise fruit and a layered texture. Any drinker who is captivated by gossamer-like texture that Pinot Noir can achieve will enjoy this wine.
