WINE DESCRIPTION
Chiappini's "Guado de' Gemoli" is a Bolgheri Rosso Superiore crafted from a blend of three classic Bordeaux grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. Cabernet Sauvignon grapes come from the Le Grottine vineyard planted in 1978 with sandy, clay, and limestone soils. Merlot and Cabernet grapes originate from the Felciaino vineyard established in 1986. Harvest takes place between the third week of September and mid-October. After separate temperature-controlled stainless steel fermentation, they undergo malolactic fermentation in French barriques, maturing for over 20 months. About 15% of new barriques are used. After 12 months of further refinement in the bottle, approximately 10,000 bottles of Guado de' Gemoli are produced annually.
