WINE DESCRIPTION
Gillmore Vigno Carignan is produced by Gillmore Winery, located in the Maule Valley. 'Vigno' stands for the 'Vignadores de Carignan', an association of producers whose aim is to produce and promote wines made from old-vine Carignan. After hand harvesting, the grapes are sorted and crushed, before being transferred to stainless steel vats to undergo the alcoholic fermentation. Finally, the wine is matured in neutral oak barrels for a period of around 18 months prior to bottling. This process of aging helps to round out the firm tannic structure of Carignan without imparting oak character.

Gillmore Vigno Carignan displays a deep ruby hue.Ripe dark fruits such as blackberry and plum are accompanied by notes of black pepper, tobacco, and a touch of earthiness. On the palate, this wine is dense and concentrated with a full body and rich, velvety texture. The tannins provide a pleasantly drying sensation, framing the intense dark fruit flavors. Nuances of spice and leather are joined by a subtle herbal character. The acidity is well-balanced, adding freshness and vivacity to the gently spicy finish.
