Giesen 'The Fuder' Clayvin Chardonnay hails from the prestigious Clayvin Vineyard in the Southern Valleys of Marlborough, New Zealand. This organic vineyard boasts 30-year-old vines planted in clay-rich soil, and its high-density plantings yield wines of exceptional concentration and richness. The winemaking process is meticulous, with selective hand-picking to ensure optimal ripeness. The free-run juice undergoes natural fermentation in 1000L German Oak Fuder barrels using wild yeast, followed by lees aging for added complexity. The use of Fuder barrels allows for a more nuanced oak integration, enhancing the wine's depth and character.
