Wine Description:
Folie à Deux Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel is a powerful, full-bodied wine produced by Trinchero Family Estates. For this wine, they source the grapes from Sonoma's Dry Creek Valley appellation. This small but notable AVA is blessed with a warm climate, but the morning Pacific Ocean fogs help to moderate the warm temperatures and retain freshness in the grapes. The wines are aged up to 18 months in new and used French and American oak prior to bottling.
Pros:
  • Well-integrated oak balanced by fruit flavors

Cons:
  • Elevated alcohol may be off-putting to fans of lighter styles

Wine Expert Note:

Folie à Deux Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel offers bold and syrupy aromas of ripe plums and dark cherries. These aromas continue onto the palate, where they are joined by notes of anise, spice, and a touch of vanilla. The wine has a full-bodied mouthfeel with well-integrated tannins, providing a smooth and creamy texture. The acidity helps offset the jammy fruit character, bringing freshness to the wine. The finish is focussed on ripe dark fruit and subtle spice.
