Firestone Syrah is produced from grapes grown in the Santa Ynez Valley of the Central Coast of California. The grapes are crushed to liberate the juice, then fermented on skins with heavy extraction to create a bold, tannic and deeply colored wine. The wine is matured for around 2 years in French and Hungarian oak, a proportion of which is new, which contributes oak spice to complement the rich flavors of dark fruit, pepper spice, and smokiness.
NOTES FROM VINOVOSS SOMMELIER
Firestone Syrah has a concentrated, almost inky deep purple color. It unveils velvet-smooth layers of fleshy black plum, intertwined with marked hints of dark spice. On the palate, the dark fruit is supported by a layer of exotic spice which creates a headiness and opulence to the wine. The wine’s smoky and seductive character is complemented by a lingering finish that leaves a lasting impression. The balance of fruit and spice, along with its velvety tannins and fresh acidity, culminate in a long, ripe finish.
The Central Coast of California is a wine lover's paradise, boasting a wide variety of climates, soils, and grape varieties. Located between San Francisco and Los Angeles, the Central Coast spans from Monterey County in the north to Santa Barbara County in the south. With its diverse topography and Mediterranean climate, the Central Coast is home to some of the most renowned wineries in the United States.
The Central Coast has a long and storied history of winemaking, dating back to the mid-1800s. The first vineyards were planted in the Santa Clara Valley, and by the late 1800s, the region was producing some of the finest wines in the country. The region's reputation for quality wines was further solidified in the early 1989, when the Santa Clara Valley was declared among the first American Viticultural Area (AVA) in the United States.
