WINE DESCRIPTION
Founded in 1903 by Etienne Sauzet in Puligny-Montrachet, this estate began with a small parcel of inherited vines and steadily expanded under his stewardship, reaching 12 hectares by his passing in 1975. Since then, his daughter Jeanine, alongside her husband Gérard Boudot, has overseen the estate. With vineyards in 4 Grand Cru and numerous Premier Cru and other sites, the family also sources grapes from external growers meeting the estate's high standards. Spontaneous fermentation occurs in large oak barrels, temperature-controlled and lasting weeks to months, with the entire winemaking process, from must to lees aging, spanning up to 18 months.

Situated above the village of Puligny, the Champ Gain is the highest of the local Premiers Crus, exerting a crucial influence on the wines it yields.The Chardonnays from this elevation, including those crafted by François Carillon, exhibit distinctive floral, lemony notes, and profound minerality. Carillon's rendition reveals hints of Nashi pear, jasmine tea, cardamom, and flint. Enjoyable even at this stage, it offers a refreshing palate with a delightful crispness. The wine exemplifies the character of its terroir, capturing the essence of elevated Puligny winemaking with a harmonious blend of freshness and depth.
