Ernest Vineyards Sonoma Coast Chardonnay showcases a distinctive blend sourced from two new vineyard sites, elevating the essence of Ernest's Chardonnay philosophy. The vineyards, nestled slightly inland with alluvial soils, feature young vine Old Wente and mature Clone 4 grapes. Harvested early, these grapes maintain vibrant acidity while achieving full physiological ripeness. The result is a harmonious marriage of flavors – the old vines contribute lush pear and ripe apple notes, complemented by Old Wente's infusion of minerality and verve. This Chardonnay undergoes native fermentations in 228L French Oak barrels, including 25% new barrels, and matures for 10 months on the lees before a gentle filtration, producing a wine that captures the nuanced terroir of Sonoma Coast with finesse.
