Wine Description:
The grape varieties Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre unite in the cuvée of this dark red wine. The vines thrive on varied soil. Limestone, granite, pebbles and alluvial land determine the overall picture. The vines are on average 35 years old. After a careful and selective harvest, the winegrowers ferment the Guigal Côtes du Rhône Rouge traditionally at a controlled temperature. The wine stays on the skins for a long time and thus gains color and taste. Before being bottled, the Guigal Côtes du Rhône Rouge matures in oak barrels for a year and a half.
Pros:
  • A classic blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre

Wine Expert Note:

This E. Guigal Côtes-du-Rhône Rouge is a deep, robust red wine with aromas of ripe dark fruit, earthy spices and subtle floral notes. On the palate, this wine has ripe, dark fruit flavors such as blackberry, raspberry and cherry, along with more subtle flavors of earth, tobacco and pepper. The tannins are firm and fine-grained, and the balanced acidity provides a pleasant freshness. The finish is long and lingering, with notes of dark fruit and spice. This is a classic expression of Côtes-du-Rhône, with an enticing complexity and great value.
