WINE DESCRIPTION

Domaine Thomson Surveyor Thomson Single Vineyard Pinot Noir is highly expressive and strongly varietal typical Pinot Noir from the Central Otago region, located in the southernmost tip of New Zealand. The organically-farmed vineyards are planted on shallow and well drained soils that aid ripening in this cool climate. Vinification takes place with a proportion of whole clusters which adds a floral lift and notes of dried herbs, increasing the overall complexity of the wine. Finally, the wine is matured for around 10 months in French oak barrels prior to bottling.

The Domaine Thomson Surveyor Thomson Single Vineyard Pinot Noir presents a delicate pale ruby hue in the glass with light staining of the tears, typical of a thin-skinned variety like Pinot Noir.On the nose, it displays perfumed aromas of ripe red berries, such as cherries and raspberries, accompanied by delicate floral notes and a hint of spice. Upon tasting, there is a fine balance between fruit notes and earthiness, with red berry flavors that continue to shine, supported by subtle undertones of forest floor and a touch of smokiness. The tannins are silky, adding a pleasing texture to the wine.

Since then, the region has become one of New Zealand's most important wine regions, producing some of the country's most sought-after Pinot Noirs.
