Wine Description:
Domaine Philippe Pernot-Belicard Vieilles Vignes Meursault is a white wine from the Meursault appellation in Burgundy. The wine is made by Paul Pernot, son of Puligny Montrachet stalwart Paul, from his wife's vineyards. Paul favors picking earlier to maintain acidity and freshness in the fruit profile and uses oak sparingly, just 20% in this cuvee, to allow the fruit to shine. Older vintages of this wine may not be labelled as Vieilles Vignes. Expect ripe lemon and peach flavors with toasted hazelnut nuance and fine acidic line. This is a sound introduction to modern Meursault.
Pros:
  • Concentrated stonefruit flavor from low yielding old vines

Cons:

Wine Expert Note:

On the nose, this Meursault offers a bouquet of ripe orchard fruits, such as golden apple and pear, accompanied by yellow peach. There is also a subtle hint of toasted hazelnuts, adding a touch of complexity. The palate is rich and full-bodied, showcasing the opulence of Meursault. The flavors of ripe fruits continue to shine, with a perfect balance between freshness and richness. The creamy texture coats the mouth, leaving a long and satisfying finish. Pair this wine with dishes that can match its intensity, such as roasted poultry, buttery seafood, or creamy pasta dishes. It will also age gracefully, allowing the flavors to further develop and evolve over the next decade.
