Domaine des Perdrix is located in the Côte de Nuits region, within the municipality of Nuits-Saint-Georges. It encompasses approximately 12 hectares of vineyards in Nuits-Saint-Georges and Vosne-Romanée. This includes nearly 5 hectares designated as Nuits-Saint-Georges AOC, with the prominent 3.5-hectare "Premier Cru Aux Perdrix" being virtually a monopoly, owned at 99% by Domaine des Perdrix. This Premier Cru enjoys an esteemed reputation. Remarkably, partridges (perdrix) still roam through the vineyards, lending authenticity to the wine's name.
The wines exhibit a distinct style – elegant, light-footed, and fresh. Barrel aging is judiciously managed to keep oak influences subtle on the nose. Nonetheless, a touch of barrel aging is deemed necessary to strike the perfect wood-fruit balance, a rarity. Œnologist Robert Vernizeau has overseen the wines since 1996.
NOTES FROM VINOVOSS SOMMELIER
This Domaine des Perdrix Nuits-Saint-Georges is a complex expression of Pinot Noir, exhibiting aromas of wild strawberry, cranberry, and blackberry, with underlying notes of earth, leather, and sweet spices. On the palate, it is full-bodied and velvety, with a finely textured structure and a long finish. Enjoyable now, this wine will benefit from further aging in the cellar.
