WINE DESCRIPTION

Améthyste, the top red cuvée from Domaine des Ardoisières, is crafted from the steep monopole of Cevins, owned entirely by the domaine. With a gradient of up to 60%, akin to Côte-Rotie, and southern exposure on schist and mica schist soil, the vineyard yields a mere 20hl/ha on average. This Savoie masterpiece thrives in extreme temperatures, with daytime highs reaching 50 degrees Celsius and chilly nights influenced by the Alps, resulting in lower alcohol wines with a refreshing mountain-streamlike quality. Biodynamically grown, Améthyste combines Persan and Mondeuse Noire, fermented whole bunch with native yeasts, and aged for 12-18 months in 2-10 year old barrels.
