Jean Louis Dutraive Carolon Fleurie is a distinguished wine from the Beaujolais region, with vineyards spanning Fleurie and Brouilly appellations. Acquired in 1969 by Jean Dutraive, it stands as one of Fleurie's oldest domains. His son, Jean-Louis, joined in 1977 and assumed full ownership in 1989. Today, the vinification is led by Jean-Louis, Ophélie, and Lucas Dutraive. The vineyard operates under organic principles, certified since 2009, and engages in a negoce activity, sourcing grapes from fellow organic vintners. Carolon, located in the northwest Fleurie, is a steep, high-altitude vineyard. Grapes are hand-harvested, and undergo whole-cluster, carbonic maceration with low temperatures and minimal sulfites. Natural fermentation by indigenous yeasts follows, and the wines are gravity-aged in the cellar, reflecting a commitment to organic practices and a hands-off winemaking approach.
