In 1988, Anne Gros, married to Jean Paul Tollot of Domaine Tollot-Beaut in Chorey Les Beaune, took over F. Gros winery. Her winemaking philosophy centers on accentuating ripe fruit and good acidity. Ranging from Bourgogne rouge to the luxurious Richebourg, Anne Gros' wines are for delicate drinkers seeking finely nuanced finesse, which matures in aged bottles. The wines truly reveal their qualities after a slow bottle aging, showcasing intricate delicacy and complete refinement. Anne prefers a short pre-fermentation maceration, initiating fermentation promptly. With a meticulous wood selection like Allier, she destems 100% and bottles relatively early after approximately 16 months. In the vineyard, she replaces herbicides and insecticides with pheromone traps between the vines.
NOTES FROM VINOVOSS SOMMELIER
This Domaine Anne Gros Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Rouge is a powerful yet elegant red Burgundy. On the nose, it offers up an array of ripe dark fruits, along with a touch of oak and earth. On the palate, it's full-bodied and structured, with a rich core of blackberry and plum flavors, complemented by a hint of spice and a long, harmonious finish. Overall, this is an outstanding example of the appellation, with great complexity and balance.
