WINE DESCRIPTION
Many of the celebrated, historic vineyards in McLaren Vale are interlaced with ancient, weathered granite laterite, also known as ironstone. The iron oxides contained within the stone give it its exceptionally rusty reddish-brown color. In the late 19th century, the largest rocks from this stone were used in the construction of many winery buildings, lending this cuvée the title Ironstone Pressing.

This d'Arenberg The Ironstone Pressings GSM offers an inviting bouquet of bright red cherries and subtle notes of pepper, combined with a hint of blackberry.The palate is full-bodied and smooth, with a lively acidity and a long, lingering finish that is balanced with plenty of tannins for complexity. The combination of Grenache, Shiraz, and Mourvèdre grapes adds layers of complexity to the wine, with raspberry, leather, and spices all in the mix. A perfect accompaniment to a hearty meal or a great conversation.

McLaren Vale is an important wine-producing region in the Fleurieu Peninsula, south of Australian. It is renowned for its award-winning Shiraz, as well as other grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Mourvedre, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
McLaren Vale has a long and proud history of winemaking, with the first vines planted in the region in 1838. The region’s first commercial winery, Bleasdale, was established in 1850, and the region has been producing quality wines ever since.
