Barone di Bernaj Nero d'Avola hails from the volcanic region of Sicily, Italy. After harvesting, the grapes undergo a destemming and fermentation in stainless steel temperature-controlled vats. Wines are fermented for approximately 12 days on skins to extract tannin and flavor. Wines are then aged for about 8 months in french barrels to further round out the tannins to produce a velvety textured wine. After bottling the wine spends a further 3 months in bottle for further refinement. The resulting wine is rich, plummy with a hint of smoky minerality hinting at the volcanic soils the vines were grown in.
