WINE DESCRIPTION

COS Maldafrica is a low-intervention wine produced by COS, a renowned winery located on the volcanic island of Sicily, Italy. Maldafrica is produced from a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Fermentation takes place in underground terracotta amphorae with maceration on the skins. It continues its maturation in Slavonian barrels for approximately 12 months before being bottled without fining or filtration to retain the delicacy and character of the wine.

COS Maldafrica has a medium to deep ruby hue.It has aromas of dark fruits, blackberry and blackcurrant, along with notes of tobacco, dried herbs and a hint of dried herbs coupled with an underlying smokiness that hints at the volcanic soils the grapes are grown on. The palate is medium bodied and robust, with concentrated flavors of black fruit, dark chocolate and a hint of licorice. The wine is relatively long and persistent, with a pleasant and satisfyingly dry finish.
