WINE DESCRIPTION
Clos Fantine Cuvée Courtiol Faugères is a powerful, robust dry red wine the Faugères appellation in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of Southern France. The wine is predominantly composed of old-vine, bush-trained Mourvedre, accompanied by a touch of Carignan.
The soil in Faugères is mostly made up of slate, which retains water and heat allowing the grapes to ripen fully without suffering from hydric stress. Following on from the fermentation, the wine is matured for around 18 months in concrete vats prior to bottling.

The Clos Fantine Cuvée Courtiol Faugères stains the glass with an intense ruby-purple color, suggesting a wine of significant extraction and weight.On the nose, it explodes with a concentrated bouquet of ripe dark fruits, such as blackberries and plums, accompanied by an array of herbs, spices and grilled meats. There is an underlying earthy quality to the wine that adds a touch of complexity. Upon tasting, this wine reveals flavors of dark berries are complemented by notes of lavender, thyme, and garrigue, which add a distinct Mediterranean character to the wine. The tannins are firm and muscular, providing structure and a grippy texture, framing the persistent savory finish.
