ORIGINS
Winery: Churchill's
Region: Douro
The Douro Valley in Portugal is one of the oldest and most iconic wine regions in the world. Located in the north of the country, the region is renowned for its stunning scenery and its production of world-class fortified wines.
The Douro Valley was first demarcated in 1756 and originally applied only to port production. It was extended to include table wine in 1979, with the first glimmer of the region’s potential for non-fortified still red wines appearing when port shippers Casa Ferreirinha launched Barca Velha in 1952. The focus on table wines did not take hold until the 1990’s, following Portugal’s accession to the EU.CUSTOMER RATING

Bold and pleasing conclusion to our tasting experience, with a port that has clearly been aged to perfection. The intense notes are a outstanding deal for the price, with a rich concentration of sweet tones suggestive of forest fruits and tea-like tannins. Paired with a delightful almond nut tart, this port is a perfect match for those wanting a concentrated and opulent treat.

Voluptuous and detailed wine with a deep, round texture. The tastes of blackberries, nutmeg, and cinnamon are expertly balanced, during the oak and toffee undertones add depth and warmth. The tartness is moderate, and the tannins are well-structured and elegant, giving the wine a soft finish. Overall, a well-integrated and polished wine that is sure to please, with a long and fulfilling finish.
