Wine Description:
Elegant and exceptionally refined, their Syrah is named after the brilliant and magnificent Héloïse d'Argenteuil. It embodies her balance, concentration, restraint, and supple, mature texture. This delicate Syrah harmoniously combines with their old, fragrant Grenache vines and pairs beautifully with the floral notes of high-altitude white varieties like Viognier or Roussanne, connecting Héloïse to her cousins from the Northern Rhône Valley. These wines are produced to pay homage to Abélard and Héloïse because their own convictions mirror the undeniable commitment this couple had to each other.

Domaine Eric et Joël Durand Confidence Cornas embodies the pinnacle of quality winemaking in the renowned Cornas appellation. Situated in the southern part of the Saint-Joseph appellation, the vineyard spans approximately 20 hectares of steep, granite-rich slopes meticulously tended by brothers Joël and Eric Durand. With an average vine age of 30 years, the terroir imparts depth and character to the grapes, exclusively Syrah, grown here. Manual harvesting and traditional vinification methods, including daily punch-downs during a 20-day period, ensure optimal extraction and concentration. The wine is then aged in oak barrels for a year, with 30% new oak and the remainder seasoned between 1 to 4 years. Known for their dedication to manual labor and attention to detail, the Durand brothers produce red wines of exceptional quality, characterized by concentrated textures and a distinctive graphite, precise, and mineral-driven style that reflects the unique terroir of Cornas.

The grape varieties Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre unite in the cuvée of this dark red wine. The vines thrive on varied soil. Limestone, granite, pebbles and alluvial land determine the overall picture. The vines are on average 35 years old. After a careful and selective harvest, the winegrowers ferment the Guigal Côtes du Rhône Rouge traditionally at a controlled temperature. The wine stays on the skins for a long time and thus gains color and taste. Before being bottled, the Guigal Côtes du Rhône Rouge matures in oak barrels for a year and a half.
