Wine Description:
Nicole Rolet and Chêne Bleu produce biodynamic wines. Despite having no prior wine experience, the estate gained a remarkable reputation. It's been dubbed the 'world's first super Rhônes' by the Wall Street Journal, achieving high Parker scores for reds and Jancis Robinson's top scores for rosés. Located in the Southern Rhône, the vineyards sit at the convergence of four appellations, offering cooler conditions than expected. Nicole Rolet explained the difference between appellation and terroir, highlighting the vineyard's unique geology, deep-rooted vines, and diverse ancient soils, leading to complex minerality in the wines. Chêne Bleu caters to wine enthusiasts worldwide.

When discussing the northern Rhône, the name Jamet sparks excitement. In the 1970s, Jean-Luc began winemaking with his father, and in 1985, he co-founded Domaine Jamet in Ampuis with his brother Jean-Paul. Over the years, the domain earned an excellent reputation beyond borders. However, with increasing success, tensions emerged between the brothers. Jean-Luc handled the hard work in the vineyard and cellar but remained overshadowed, while his brother managed wine sales. These conflicts and the desire to eventually pass on his own estate to his son led Jean-Luc to establish his winery in 2012. They divided the parcels between them, with Jean-Luc now owning 8 hectares in prime, slate-dominated locations, including renowned sites like Lancement, La Landonne, Fongeant, Côte Bodin, and Les Moutonnes, in Côte Rôtie. Jean-Luc maintains strict quality standards under his name, with extremely high vine densities of 10-12,000 vines per hectare and consistently low yields of under 40hl per hectare, resulting in exceptional, concentrated wines with captivating fruit and pronounced freshness.

The grape varieties Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre unite in the cuvée of this dark red wine. The vines thrive on varied soil. Limestone, granite, pebbles and alluvial land determine the overall picture. The vines are on average 35 years old. After a careful and selective harvest, the winegrowers ferment the Guigal Côtes du Rhône Rouge traditionally at a controlled temperature. The wine stays on the skins for a long time and thus gains color and taste. Before being bottled, the Guigal Côtes du Rhône Rouge matures in oak barrels for a year and a half.
