WINE DESCRIPTION
The history of Chateau de Carles dates back to the 14th century when a fortress was built on the site. The Fronsac estate remained in the de Carles family for generations, giving it its name. Today, it is managed by Stephane Droulers and Constance Chastenet de Castaing.
Unlike many cases where a Grand Vin was gradually selected into a second wine, Haut Carles is the Grand Vin of Chateau de Carles. Known as Haut Carles, even by its owners, this wine is a flagship of the Fronsac appellation, once more esteemed than Pomerol. Haut Carles is a dense, Merlot-dominant wine, showcasing Fronsac's potential with its elegant texture and silky tannins.
