The estate has been in existence since 1525 and its vineyards are some of the oldest in the region. The estate holds the rare distinction of being named a Premier Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, making it one of the most prestigious wineries in the world. Château Haut-Brion Pessac-Léognan wines are typically made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The wines are full-bodied and concentrated with flavors of ripe red and black fruits, earthy undertones, and subtle notes of oak and spice. The tannins are well integrated and the wines have good acidity and a long, lingering finish. These wines can be enjoyed now, but also have great aging potential.
