Wine Description:
Charles Armand Blanc de Blancs Brut is a non-vintage sparkling wine produced using the traditional method. The first fermentation takes place in stainless steel tank to highlight the bright fruit flavors and varietal characteristics of Chardonnay without the impact of spicy oak aromas. Following the primary fermentation, the wine undergoes another fermentation at low temperature allowing for a slower fermentation. It is at this stage that the carbon dioxide is captured in the bottle to produce a sparkling wine. The wine is then aged for a period on the decomposing yeast to give a delicate yeasty character to the wine which builds the overall complexity. The resulting wine is crisp with fine bubbles, and vibrant flavors.
Pros:
  • Crisp acidity and refreshing citrus notes

Wine Expert Note:

Charles Armand Blanc de Blancs Brut is a delicate sparkling wine made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes giving the wine a predominantly citrus and orchard fruit profile. The wine displays a pale straw color with fine bubbles that create a lively mousse. On the nose, this Blanc de Blancs Brut offers delicate aromas of citrus fruits, such as lemon and grapefruit, along with floral notes of white flowers and hints of yeast and crackers. These aromas are complemented by subtle mineral undertones, adding complexity to the wine. The palate is crisp and refreshing, with a vibrant acidity that balances the wine's richness. Flavors of green apple, pear, and lemon zest dominate, accompanied by a touch of toasted almond and a creamy texture. The finish is long and satisfying, leaving a lingering impression of citrus and mineral notes.

The grapes for this Crémant de Bourgogne sparkling wine are carefully selected from vineyards located in the southern part of Burgundy. These vineyards, characterized by limestone, clay, and pebble soils, are strategically situated in cooler regions. The grapes are hand-harvested early in the season to retain their mineral qualities and acidity, ensuring a fresh and crisp character in the final bottling. Originally, the term "Crémant" was associated with "Champagne demi-mousse," a style of Champagne with slightly lower pressure, around 5 bar compared to the standard 6.5 to 7 bar. The production method for Crémant, known as the "méthode traditionnelle," mirrors the "méthode champenoise" and results in a bottle pressure of 6.5 bar.
