WINE DESCRIPTION
The Castelvecchio Carso is a mono-varietal Cabernet Franc from the Carso appellation of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located in Northeastern Italy. The grapes are grown organically on arid and rocky soils which naturally helps reduce yields and increase concentration. After harvest, the grapes are crushed and fermented with maceration in steel tanks. The wine is matured for around 1 year in small barrels made from French and California oak, followed by a further year in larger Slavonian and French oak casks. Finally, the wine is aged in a bottle for a further six months before release.

Castelvecchio Cabernet Franc Carso has an attractive medium ruby color.On the nose, the wine reveals aromas of ripe red and dark berries, such as raspberries and blackberries, accompanied by hints of herbs and oak spice. These aromas are further enhanced by delicate floral notes of violets, adding a touch of elegance to the overall bouquet. The palate is medium to full-bodied and moderately grippy tannins. The flavors are well-balanced, with a harmonious blend of red fruit, earthy undertones, and a hint of violets that carry on the finish.
