Vale dos Vinhedos is a wine region located in the Serra Gaúcha area of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. It is known for producing high-quality wines, particularly from the Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chardonnay grape varieties. The region has a long history of wine production, dating back to the arrival of Italian immigrants in the late 19th century. In 2002, Vale dos Vinhedos became the first wine region in Brazil to receive a Denomination of Origin (DO) status, recognizing the unique characteristics of its wines.
