In the 1870s, the twins' great-grandparents established agricultural roots in Lodi, initially growing non-irrigated watermelons. By 1916, they purchased their first vineyard, marking the family's transition into viticulture. The twins' father expanded the farm, including the River Ranch and DeVries Road Ranch, where the twins spent their childhood helping on the farm. Upon returning from college, they acquired a vineyard from their father, solidifying their farming partnership. The River Ranch holds sentimental value, being the backdrop for their childhood adventures. Today, with the fifth generation involved, the family is committed to sustaining the farm, communities, and the agricultural way of life.
