Viña Olabarri Gran Reserva was founded by Pablo Olabarri Bikandi, who acquire in 1985 a century-old winery from the 19th century on Las Bodegas de Anguciana Street. The need for modern and spacious facilities for wine production led to the construction of new facilities in Haro in 1989, with enough capacity to house 4,000 barrels and a warehouse for aging 800,000 bottles. Currently, it is his son Luis Olabarri who runs the winery. This wine hails from old vines that are meticulously harvested and a careful grape selection takes place for the making of Olabarri's Gran Reservas. The juice naturally goes through the primary fermentation is in stainless steel. The wine is transferred to 20,000L oak tanks for MLF. The wine is then aged in French and American oak barrels with a light toast for 36 months. It lightly fined with egg whites, unfiltered and then and aged another 60 months in bottle prior to release.
