Renato and Franca, a winemaker and classically trained musician-architect, now run Cantina del Pino. They work and live alongside Renato's parents and a dedicated team in the vineyards surrounding Ovello Hill. This area boasts a unique blend of a cooler microclimate and distinctive soils, rich in limestone with sandy veins and high calcium content, ideal for crafting elegant, age-worthy Barbaresco. After studying winemaking at the Royal Enological School in Alba and spending five years at Produttori del Barbaresco, Renato felt the urge to explore his ideas around viticulture and wine production. In 1997, he convinced his father to establish their own label. In 2013, Franca joined, and Cantina Del Pino embraced a contemporary twist, reflecting their gratitude for the privilege of turning Barbaresco grapes into wine. Believing that wine quality lies in the grapes and soil, they meticulously study and tend to their vineyards, combining family winemaking knowledge with cutting-edge agricultural research and a deep care for nature and soil. Unfortunately, Renato passed away in 2020 due to cancer, and Franca has taken the reins, continuing this tradition of exceptional wines in his honor.
