WINE DESCRIPTION
Cameron Ramato is a rose wine produced by Cameron Winery in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. Romato is a wine style that originated in the north east of Italy uing the Pinot Gris or Pinot Grigio grape. Although it is a white grape, Pinot Gris and Grigio develop a pinkish tint to their skins when fully ripe. By leaving the juice in contact with the skins when making wine a rose wine can be produced with a pale copper color. In a addition to the pale color, the wine has a gentle astringency from the skins which gives this wine a textured palate, which along with its lean acidity makes it a great partner for simple red sauce based pasta dishes or fish. This rose is a great choice for people who wish to explore rose winemaking methods in greater detail or who want a highly refreshing wine with a twist.

Romato is a skin contact style of Rose wine that originated in north-eastern Italy where the pink skins of ripe Pinot Gris grapes are used to give the wine a delightful copper tint.Beyond the color the wine shows notes of grapefruit, white peach and orange peel. The palate is medium bodied with a pithy, textured mouthfeel and a refreshing lean acidity, which leads to a pleasantly astringent finish. This is a great gentle introduction to skin contact wines and a great match for risotto with salmon and preserved lemon.
