Christopher Donatiello, a former New York-based wine and spirits distributor, partnered with investment banker Bill Hambrecht to transform the former Belvedere Winery on Westside Road in Healdsburg. Acquired by Hambrecht in 1989, the 14.5-acre estate features an organically farmed vineyard, a contemporary hospitality center designed by Ken Munson, and an organic garden. The winery facility was upgraded with the latest winemaking technology, launching the C. Donatiello label in April 2008. Initially focusing on small lot Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays, the winery closed in 2012, becoming VML Winery. In 2014, Donatiello took full ownership of the brand, continuing production and offering tastings at Vin Couture in Healdsburg.
