WINE DESCRIPTION
After three generations as a royal supplier of Port wine, Clemente da Silva took over the old winery "Corrêa Ribeiro e Filhos" of his wife's family in 1933, renaming it C. da Silva and bringing it to international fame. Presidential Port wines from the world's oldest protected wine-growing region, the Douro Valley (UNESCO World Heritage), are produced according to strict guidelines from selected grapes. They mature under ideal Mediterranean conditions on terraces along the Douro River. C. da Silva allows the Port wines a longer aging period than usual, resulting in exquisite outcomes through serene maturation in the vaulted cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia near Porto. PRESIDENTIAL - Port Wine Diversity with Class - represents a rich range of characters, ages, maturation stages, exceptional harvests (Portuguese: Colheita), and vintages.

The Douro Valley in Portugal is one of the oldest and most iconic wine regions in the world. Located in the north of the country, the region is renowned for its stunning scenery and its production of world-class fortified wines.
The Douro Valley was first demarcated in 1756 and originally applied only to port production. It was extended to include table wine in 1979, with the first glimmer of the region’s potential for non-fortified still red wines appearing when port shippers Casa Ferreirinha launched Barca Velha in 1952.
