The Cabernet grapes were sourced from The Simpkins Vineyard in Coombsville, just east of Napa. The vineyard, while remaining warm and dry, is often a little colder than many Napa Valley vineyards, allowing the grapes additional hang time. This gives the finished wine more concentration and complexity. The soil of the vineyard is rocky loam, which has good drainage and a low nutrient concentration. Under these conditions, the vines work extremely hard to yield a limited amount of fruit.
Burly Cabernet Sauvignon Special Selection is an intense, full-bodied red wine. It offers a rich bouquet of dark cherry, blackberry, and cassis, with a hint of toasted oak for complexity.
