In 1731, Michel Bouchard, a cloth merchant from Dauphiné, began wine trading with his son Joseph, captivated by Burgundy’s soils. Settling in Volnay, they seized the opportunity during the French Revolution in 1791 to acquire national properties. In 1810, they purchased the Château de Beaune, transforming the fortress into wine cellars. This elegant Pinot Noir comes from one of the world’s most renowned Grand Cru sites, offering a bouquet of red and black fruits with subtle spicy notes. On the palate, it is smooth and charming, with a complex, long-lasting finish. Grown on limestone and clay soils in Côte de Nuits, the wine ages 12-14 months in French oak barrels.

The palate is medium-bodied and smooth, with a textured finish of ripe tannins, bright acidity and a hint of earthiness. On the finish, there is a nice balance of dark fruit and savory spices, making this a great choice to pair with game dishes and roasted vegetables.
