Stewart and Athena, a husband and wife team, founded Boedecker Cellars in 2003 in Carlton, Oregon. They craft all-natural, sustainably farmed, and critically acclaimed Pinot Noirs, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Blanc from some of the finest vineyards in the Willamette Valley. Their winemaking blends instinct and science, taste and intuition. Everything is done by hand, allowing indigenous yeast to work its magic under their meticulous care. The wine undergoes traditional barrel aging for 18 months in French oak, with lees stirring for nine months, followed by six months of bottle aging for the Pinot Noirs. Their dedication to their craft, family, and friends is evident in every bottle.
NOTES FROM VINOVOSS SOMMELIER
This Boedecker Carlton Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir is a wonderfully balanced and elegant expression of the varietal. On the nose, aromas of dark cherry, black olive, and ripe raspberry are complemented by notes of toasted oak, dried herbs, and earth. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied with a silky texture and bright acidity. Flavors of dark cherry and blackberry are joined by earthy notes of dried herbs and damp earth, leading to a long and complex finish. A truly remarkable Pinot Noir from one of Oregon's finest vineyards.
Oregon is a state in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States, located between Washington to the north and California to the south. It is known for its diverse landscape of forests, mountains, rivers, and high desert, and for its vibrant wine industry.
Oregon's wine industry dates back to the mid-1800s, when the first vineyards were planted in the Willamette Valley. The region was largely forgotten until the 1960s, when a group of pioneering winemakers began to experiment with Pinot Noir and other cool-climate varieties. Since then, Oregon has become one of the most important wine regions in the United States, with over 500 wineries and more than 1,000 vineyards.
