WINE DESCRIPTION
Baracchi Smeriglio Sangiovese is a mono-varietal wine produced under the Cortona DOC appellation, in the rolling hills of the Tuscan countryside in Central Italy. The wine is produced by the Baracchi family who have been cultivating vines in the area since the 1860's. After harvesting and crushing the grapes, a lengthy fermentation and maceration with skins in stainless steel vats follows. The wine is transferred to French oak barrels for around 12 months before spending a further 3 months in bottle before its release.

Baracchi Smeriglio Sangiovese shimmers in the glass with a pale ruby appearance.On the nose, it offers aromas of tart red cherries, plums, and hints of dried herbs and turned earth that gives an attractive savory edge to the overall profile. The palate displays a medium to full body with firm tannins and vibrant acidity. The flavors of juicy red fruits, such as cherries and plum, take center stage, accompanied by a touch of earthiness, a hint of black tea and a soupçon of tomato stalk.
