Antonella Corda Cannonau di Sardegna

This Cannonau di Sardegna is a mono-varietal Grenache produced by Antonella Corda who founded her winery in 2010 after finishing her masters in viticulture and winemaking at the Edmund Mach Foundation. Her approach blends a proud, century-old family tradition of winemaking with ambition and innovation. Her father Antonio, who lived to the age of 104, left Antonella two of his prized vineyards, located around the village of Serdiana, a few kilometres north of Cagliari. The mild climate, water availability and the rich calcareous soils here give the wines a unique character and a signature freshness. Antonella follows a sustainable approach and the vineyards are farmed organically. The grapes were hand-picked and given a cold soak at 10–12 °C for no more than 24 hours before fermentation After this, between 15 and 20% of the wine is aged in non-toasted small François Frères barrels for at least six months while the remaining wine ages in tank. The two components are then blended together and aged further in tank before being bottled and spending at least four months in bottle before the wine is released on the market.
