WINE DESCRIPTION

Ansitz Waldgries Lagrein is produced in the alpine region of Trentino-Alto Adige located in Northern Italy. The vineyards are situated in Santa Maddalena planted on southeast to southwest slopes at high elevation. This has a moderating effect, slowing the ripening and extending the growing season. After harvesting, part of the grapes are fermented without crushing and destemming to create lifted berry notes. The wines are fermented in large wooden casks and used barriques. The resulting wine is a full-bodied and complex red, with notes of dark fruit, spices, and a hint of chocolate.

Ansitz Waldgries Lagrein has an intense ruby-purple color with intense aromas of blackberries, blackcurrants, and plums. These dark fruit aromas are complemented by floral hints of violets, spice and herbs.On the palate, it is rich and lush, with a velvety texture and notes of black pepper and cocoa. The wine is medium to full-bodied with a lean texture, driven by fresh acidity. The finish is moderate in length and lively, with hints of tobacco, dark chocolate, and blackcurrants.
