Andresen Fine Ruby Porto is one of the few remaining family-owned businesses. Jann Hinrich Andresen arrived in the city of Porto in 1840, traveling by boat from the North Sea island of Föhr. Just five years later, at the age of 19, he founded the Port wine house. For nearly 100 years, the company was led by the Andresen family. In 1942, during an economic crisis, it was sold to the Portuguese Port wine producer Albino Peirera dos Santos and has since remained independent.
Robust and honest Ruby Port. Very fruity with ripe, luscious berry notes. Complemented by wonderful minerality and spiciness.

The Douro Valley in Portugal is one of the oldest and most iconic wine regions in the world. Located in the north of the country, the region is renowned for its stunning scenery and its production of world-class fortified wines.
The Douro Valley was first demarcated in 1756 and originally applied only to port production. It was extended to include table wine in 1979, with the first glimmer of the region’s potential for non-fortified still red wines appearing when port shippers Casa Ferreirinha launched Barca Velha in 1952. The focus on table wines did not take hold until the 1990’s, following Portugal’s accession to the EU.

Bold and full-bodied wine with a deep, intense color, featuring a rich, silky texture and a sweet, fruity aroma. The suggestions are complex, with nuances of rich cherries, apricots, and raisins, as well as hints of toffee, caramel, and chocolate. The texture is well-balanced, with a smooth, easy-drinking grip and a lingering finish. Overall, a good standard Port that is well worth trying, with a impressive nose and a delightful finish.

Wine with a fruity profile, but with a coarse zest that gives it a rough texture.

Rich, silky wine with a deep, deep colour, and a sweet, rewarding texture. The nose is powered by by touches of caramel, raisin, and dried apricot, with touches of morello cherry and a mild fruitiness. The texture is less impressive, with a slightly thin grip and a lack of depth, but a welcome acidity that provides a touch of interest. Overall, a inviting but unremarkable wine that is sure to please, but may not leave a continuing impression.
