Ancien Red Dog Vineyard Pinot Noir

Ancien Red Dog Vineyard Pinot Noir is sourced from the Red Dog Vineyard that sits atop Sonoma Mountain on the cool, western side just under 1000 feet elevation. At this height, Pacific currents moving inland through the Petaluma Gap cool the vineyard almost continually to produce a fresh and restrained style of Pinot Noir. The grapes were destemmed and cold soaked in open top fermenters for a short period prior to fermentation. The warm fermentation with skin contact ensured a generous extraction. The wine was aged entirely in French barrels most of which were new to contribute oak spice to complement the wide array of bright red fruit.
