Altos R Pigeage is an exceptional red from the esteemed Rioja Alavesa region of Spain. Crafted by Altos de Rioja, this wine features a blend of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Graciano from 80-year-old vines. The meticulous winemaking process includes manual harvest, careful grape selection, and cold maceration before fermentation in small 2,000-liter tanks. The wine undergoes traditional pigéage three times a day and malolactic fermentation in new French and American oak barrels, with periodic bâtonnage to enhance complexity. Aged for 15 months in these barrels, it offers a rich, full-bodied profile with deep flavors and refined tannins, showcasing the excellence of Rioja Alavesa’s terroir.
